New year, new cases! By popular demand, our Employment Law Problem-Solving workshop is back! Ira Shepard, CUPA-HR’s general counsel and a labor and employment lawyer in Washington, D.C., for more than 40 years, will kick off the event covering the most current employment law issues impacting college campuses. He will be joined by his colleague Candace McLaren, who has over 20 years of investigative and compliance experience and who formerly served as director of the U.S. Department of Education's Clery Act Compliance Division. Together, they will offer insight and guidance on recent legal cases and issues that affect higher ed.
This two-hour interactive problem-solving session will provide:
- An overview of the most pressing employment law issues for higher ed, including First Amendment, FMLA, Title IX, gender-biased harassment and discrimination, and more*
- The opportunity for participants to work together to examine controversial employment law cases
- Takeaways to help avoid litigation related to these issues
- A deep dive into important topics such as threat/behavioral assessment teams and mental health on campus
This is a great opportunity to tap into the collective experience of Ira and Candace and their insight into the unique implications for higher ed HR.
