2025 CUPA-HR Higher Education Employee Retention Survey

The Employee Retention Survey is designed to gather responses from employees across all roles in higher education institutions. The results from the survey can help institutions understand retention trends and the factors that have the biggest impact on employee retention in the higher ed workplace.

The 2025 survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s survey a success! We received over 5,000 responses from more than 500 institutions.

We look forward to sharing the results this fall!

Previous Reports

The Employee Retention Survey was also conducted in 2022 and 2023 as a response to the retention challenges higher ed has faced in the wake of the pandemic. The results suggest specific actions that employers and leaders can take to make higher ed a better workplace.
