Broward College Receives CUPA-HR’s National HR Excellence Award
Broward College’s talent and culture team has received the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2022 HR Excellence Award for the creation and implementation of their three-year Culture Transformation Plan (CTP).
This national award honors transformative HR work in higher education that results in significant and ongoing organizational change within the recipient’s institution. CUPA-HR is pleased to offer a $3,000 contribution to Broward College’s endowment or a scholarship fund of the team’s choice.
Understanding HR’s role in institutional culture, realizing the need for an awareness of how people are treated, and recognizing the importance of transparency led the talent and culture department to spearhead their impressive plan.
Upon completing information-gathering discussions between the HR leadership team and various employee groups, several unique initiatives were developed to address the organizational culture of the institution, including the creation of talent business partner roles, Leadership 360 Assessments, psychological safety workshops, employee resource groups, new employee onboarding, and a leadership development program called BC LEAD that educates and empowers managers at all levels to rise to leadership excellence.
“This significant and ongoing organizational change has led to more substantive collaboration; stronger relationships among faculty, staff and administrators; and greater trust and communication between employees and their supervisors, and has served as a catalyst for innovative projects throughout the organization designed to maximize the experience of employees, students and the community,” said Nicki Anderson, Broward College’s District Director of Employment Services, in her nomination for the team.
