Renee Hiller, Vice President for Human Resources and Workplace Experience at St. Cloud State University, Receives CUPA-HR’s National Distinguished Service Award

Renee Hiller, vice president for human resources and workplace experience at St. Cloud State University, has been selected to receive the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2024 Distinguished Service Award for outstanding leadership of CUPA-HR and higher education HR. CUPA-HR is pleased to make a $4,000 contribution to an institution of Renee’s choice.

Hiller has served in many CUPA-HR leadership positions, including at-large member, secretary and president of the Michigan Chapter; at-large member, director of membership and chapter engagement and chair of the Midwest Region board; and Midwest Region representative on the national board. She has also been a member of the Learning and Professional Development, Budget and Finance, and National Awards committees, in addition to serving on the Governance Task Force and Midwest Region Program committees.

“Renee has been a tremendous colleague, a wonderful contributor and a leader to all things related to CUPA-HR,” shares Kelli Shuman, associate vice president for human resources and chief human resources officer at Elon University. “She has a quiet way about her leadership — meaning that she is always listening and encouraging conversation, but never overpowers the conversation, always adding in such important information exactly where it’s needed. I have always highly respected Renee’s opinion, and when she shares information, people listen because they know it’s going to be insightful and clearly thought through. From the state level to the national level, Renee has made an impact both with those she has worked closely with on the various boards and membership as a whole.”
