Dr. Joshua Mackey, Vice President of Human Resources at Northern Arizona University, to Serve as Chair-Elect on CUPA-HR Board of Directors
Dr. Joshua Mackey, vice president of human resources at Northern Arizona University, has been selected to serve as chair-elect of the board of directors of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) for the 2025-26 fiscal year. He will then serve as chair of the board for the 2026-27 fiscal year. His term begins on July 1.
For more than 25 years, Mackey has been an active member of CUPA-HR, where he has been highly involved at all levels of the association. From 2011 to 2015, he held a seat on the Arizona Chapter board, where he served as chapter president in 2013-14. He was a member of the Western Region board from 2014 to 2018, serving as chair during the 2016-17 fiscal year, and he has served on the national board of directors as an at-large member since 2022. Mackey has been an active member of several CUPA-HR committees including the Budget and Finance Committee, Creating Inclusive Communities Steering Committee, Learning and Professional Development Committee, Research Advisory Committee and Public Policy Committee. He also served as a leader for the CUPA-HR Ignite program from 2022 to 2024.

Mackey has over 25 years of experience in higher ed human resources and has spent the past five years at Northern Arizona University. Mackey shares, “I am deeply honored to be selected as the chair-elect of CUPA-HR. This role presents a unique opportunity to serve and apply both my professional experience and my long history with the association. I look forward to championing the field of higher ed HR and working with our dedicated board and association leadership to meet the emerging and future needs of the higher education workplace. I am confident that our collective wisdom and commitment to the profession will ensure that CUPA-HR continues to evolve and provide valuable support to our members and to the colleges and universities they serve.”
